History
The American Black Hereford Association was officially started in1994 by the late John Gage from Lawrence, Kansas. John's friend,
Frank Felton designed the genetic basis for this new breed. He was an expert in the use of genetics and performance testing. In 1997, J & N Ranch purchased the Black Hereford herd and Association.There are advantages to Black Herefords with the first being hair
color. Most cattlemen pull out their black and sell them separately for more money. Another important advantage of Black Herefords
is their superior carcass quality compared to traditional Herefords.
